Associate Director for NCHHSTP Policy and Planning

I am delighted to announce that Sara Zeigler, MPA, has been selected as the Associate Director for Planning and Policy for the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP). She is scheduled to begin the position on May 19, 2016. Ms. Zeigler is a dedicated and experienced public health leader whose work has focused on improving policy, systems, and environments to reduce barriers to health.
Ms. Zeigler joined CDC in 2002. Since that time she has provided policy and program technical assistance and support in infectious and non-communicable disease programs including the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program, Communities Putting Prevention to Work, and Community Transformation Grants. She has served in leadership roles in CDC’s Office of the Director; the Divisions for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention, Community Health, and Adolescent and School Health; and the Biosurveillance Coordination Unit. Most recently, Ms. Zeigler has served as Senior Advisor and Acting Chief, Program Strategy Unit, Program Performance and Evaluation Office. She recently led CDC’s Zika Action Plan Summit.
Ms. Zeigler earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Public Affairs and Citizenship at Syracuse University and a Bachelor’s in Leadership Studies from the University of Richmond.
