Physical Activity and Cardiovascular Fitness Data Survey Orientation

The Survey Orientation course includes four modules:

• Module 1. Physical Activity and Cardiovascular Fitness Data Overview
• Module 2. Navigating the NHANES Website
• Module 3. Physical Activity and Cardiovascular Fitness Data Structure and Content
• Module 4. Overview of NHANES Survey Design & Weighting

These four modules provide a general overview of the measurement, applications, and organization of physical activity and cardiovascular fitness data collected by NHANES.    

Whether you are new to NHANES or an experienced analyst, we recommend that you review Course 1 before proceeding to the remaining courses in this tutorial.  Physical activity and cardiovascular fitness data are stored in multiple files on the NHANES website and are organized according to an established labeling convention. A thorough understanding of the material covered in this introductory course will help you locate the appropriate data files and accompanying documentation needed for your analyses.
