Subject: NIOSH NPPTL Meeting for All Respirator Manufacturers, September 18, 2013
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL) is holding a meeting for all respirator manufacturers on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the NIOSH site in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will adjourn by 5:00 p.m. All manufacturers, manufacturer application preparers, and other interested parties are welcome to attend. Remote participation will be available for this meeting. Preregistration is required for on-site as well as live meeting participation.

Discussion topics will include:
- NPPTL Organic Reinvention – Introduction of the Interim Management Team
- Standard Application Procedure
- Requirements, Recommendations and Verification for Stockpiling of Respirators in Anticipation of a Public Health Emergency
- Recent Considerations on Emergency Breathing Safety Systems (EBSS)
- Identification of Devices Used in Research Studies
- Communication Methods used for Notification of Policy and Rule Changes
Posters representing recent research activities will be on display in the meeting room.
The agenda will be posted on the website prior to date of the meeting. TEB staff will be available for one-on-one meetings from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 19. To schedule a meeting for quality assurance issues contact Pat Wiltanger and for project review or certification issues please contact Tom Pouchot. Requests to meet and discuss questions on lab operations and post-certification monitoring activities should be directed to Jeff Peterson.
Laboratory tours will be conducted on the morning of the 19th. If you are interested in a tour, please indicate your interest on the registration form.
Because the meeting will be held at the NIOSH/NPPTL site, all participants must preregister by September 13, 2013. All meeting attendees are required to present valid photo identification (preferably a driver’s license) and all non-U.S. citizens are required to present a current passport, before being admitted to the site.
Non-U.S. citizens – Federal clearance conditions for non-U.S. citizens to enter a federal facility require a minimum of 30 days to process. You must complete the NIOSH Security Information Requirements for International Visitors Form and submit it to NPPTL Event Management at least 30 business days before the event (Friday, August 16) along with a copy of your passport. NIOSH approval must be established before entry to the NIOSH site will be allowed. All foreign nationals must present a current passport at the security gate. Required forms are accessible through the meeting registration page.
A limited block of rooms has been reserved, at $119 per night, at the Spring Hill Suites, 1000 Regis Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A link to the reservation system is accessible on the meeting registration page. You must reference the NIOSH NPPTL meeting to receive this rate. A list of other hotels near the NIOSH NPPTL facility is also listed on the hotel information tab on the meeting registration page.
We will be offering a box lunch option that will be delivered to the meeting room. The box lunch includes a sandwich (or hoagie), deli salad, chips, and a drink. The cost is $8.00 per person (cash only) which must be paid that morning.
