Launch a CoP
If you have an idea for a CoP, it is important to determine if a similar community or group already exists. Potential members of your prospective CoP may already be interacting in another format such as an informal working group, technical club, recurring lunch meeting, or message board community.
If a group of people are already working together in your domain, you may consider exploring whether the group could benefit from becoming a CoP or even by adopting some collaboration techniques often used by CoPs. If you have determined that your domain of interest does not already exist in the form of a CoP and might benefit from this approach, there are steps you can follow to develop and grow your community. These steps include Plan and Prepare, Launch Your Community, Sustain a CoP, Evolve a CoP and Evaluate a CoP.
