National Strategy for Biosurveillance

The White House recently released the new National Strategy for Biosurveillance. CDC supports the principles of the National Biosurveillance Strategy and, especially, its recognition that biosurveillance is important to national security. CDC's role in supporting the strategy is to continue making the best use of electronic health data, managing unstructured health data, integrating biosurveillance data so health-related information can be shared rapidly, and strengthening global disease detection and cooperation with global health partners.

Our federal interagency team will be working diligently to ensure the concepts of the strategy are complemented by specific actions and measureable progress in partnership with state, local, and tribal government partners, and private industry. The strategy calls for an implementation plan within the next 120 days.
