Rates of TBI-related Hospitalizations by Sex — United States, 2001–2010

For each year, 2001–2010, men have had higher rates of TBI-related hospitalizations compared to women.  For men, while the rate of TBI-related hospitalizations fluctuated between these years, the rates in 2010 (106.3 per 100,000) remains virtually unchanged from the rate in 2001 (104.0 per 100,000).  In contrast, rates of TBI-related hospitalizations in women increased by 20%, from 62.1 per 100,000 in 2001 to 77.6 per 100,000 in 2010.
