Community Reception Center (CRC) Simulation Tools
Following a mass casualty radiation emergency, public health professionals will play a crucial role in assessing and monitoring people potentially exposed to radiation or contaminated with radioactive material. This process, called population monitoring, will be conducted in community reception centers (CRCs).
CDC has developed two simulation programs -- CRC-STEP and RealOpt-CRC -- that planners can use to test their CRC models. Using these programs, planners can:
- Analyze CRC throughput
- Identify bottlenecks in the process
- Determine the need for and best use of additional resources
