Community Environmental Health Education Presentations

Introduction

Community Environmental Health Education Presentations are available and downloadable online in two versions

  • Community Environmental Health Instructional Presentation Kits
    Community Environmental Health Instructional Presentation Kits are 20-minute instructional presentations with learner support materials on hazardous substances and other environmental health related topics developed for general use. Each kit is designed for health educators to use in face-to-face sessions with community members to increase environmental health literacy by addressing the positive and/or negative impact that the environment has on human health. The kits include information about specific types of exposures to hazardous substances, exposure routes and pathways, health effects, treatment options, and how to prevent and minimize exposures. These kits include consist of:
    • a detailed script,
    • PowerPoint slides, and
    • learner support materials.
  • Community Environmental Health Web Stream Presentations
    Community Environmental Health Web Stream Presentations are 20-minute presentations on hazardous substances developed for a general audience. These online video, Web-streamed presentations can also be used face-to-face education with community groups to increase environmental health literacy. The online videos provide information about specific types of exposures to hazardous substances, exposure routes and pathways, health effects, treatment options, and how to prevent and minimize exposures.

Using the Online Community Environmental Health Instructional Presentation Kit

   
Target population Community Environmental Health Instructional Presentation Kits are designed for a general audience. The kit is developed for face-to face presentations. The Web streamed version is also suitable for a group presentation.
Who should present? The Community Environmental Health Instructional Presentation Kits are designed to be delivered by health professionals who are familiar with the material and are prepared to respond to audience questions.
What is included in each kit? The kits include:
  • Detailed script for presenter,
  • Slides that support script, and
  • Additional handouts for some presentations.
How long will it take to present the topic? Each Community Environmental Health Instructional Presentation Kit will take approximately 20 minutes to present. Additional time should be allowed for questions following the presentation.
Can a hard copy of the Community Environmental Health Presentation be printed and used? A hard copy of the associated slides for the Community Environmental Health Instructional Presentations can be printed and used, but is intended for live instructor delivery.

Using the Community Environmental Health Web Stream Presentation

   
Target population Community Environmental Health Web Streams are designed for a general audience. Individuals can use the Web stream version to expand their understanding of the topic or to teach others in a group presentation.
How long will it take to view the topic? Each Community Environmental Health Web Stream will take approximately 20 minutes to view. Additional time should be allowed for questions following the presentation.
Can a hard copy of the Community Environmental Health Web Stream be printed and used? A hard copy of the associated materials for the Community Environmental Health Web Stream can be printed and used, but the web stream format is intended for viewing online. Print using the hyperlink at the bottom of the viewing interface.
Does the content need to be used in a particular sequence? The online Community Environmental Health Web Stream has been developed so that the user can scan and skip sections if they wish to locate specific information.
