Start Talking 2.0 is Here!

	Start Talking. Stop HIV.

In February 2017, the Start Talking. Stop HIV. campaign launched new campaign materials, an updated website, and videos online. The campaign’s refresh features a diverse group of participants from across the nation. The new campaign materials (in English and Spanish), featured more men of color, (Hispanic/Latino and African-American men), as well as younger men, included new messages about HIV prevention methods, and had visually brightened designs.

We are excited to launch this new phase of Start Talking,” said Alberto Santana, the Mass Media Team lead, of CDC. “We used accurate research –based messaging and featured every day men from the communities we serve and are continuously aiming to reach. This is why it was equally important to refresh the Spanish language site and create materials in Spanish.”

The refresh, also known as Start Talking. Stop HIV. 2.0, focuses on highlighting HIV prevention options, like condoms and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), and it also reinforces the message of HIV testing and HIV treatment.

Visit the updated Start Talking. Stop HIV. English and Spanish websites and check out a new suite of materials, including 10 new videos:

  • Four 30-second public service announcements (English and Spanish)
  • Two behind the scenes videos showing the making of the public service announcements (English and Spanish)
  • Four Start Talking. Stop HIV. shorts that are two minute educational videos featuring in-depth conversations about HIV prevention options

By using positive modeling, the videos explore the many ways that gay and bisexual men can elevate the conversation about HIV through their personal relationships and communities. The vibrant new website features a new homepage that allows visitors to easily navigate to the most frequently requested information—Condoms, PrEP, Testing, and Treatment. The navigation tools are improved to easily access the new print (print ads and posters) and digital (web banners and videos) materials.

Within the next few months, the campaign will update the HIV Q&A section, as well as launch new HIV Conversation Starter materials. Visit the updated Start Talking. Stop HIV. English and Spanish websites and let us know what you think on our Facebook page.
