About the Gynecologic Cancer Curriculum

The Gynecologic Cancer Curriculum is organized in six modules—

• HPV and HPV Vaccine
• Cervical Cancer
• Vaginal and Vulvar Cancers
• Genetics of Gynecologic Cancers
• Ovarian Cancer
• Uterine Cancer

This curriculum uses case studies and interactive knowledge checks to apply the knowledge gained throughout the content. Each module varies in the time it takes to complete, so they may be viewed in several sittings. This material is meant to be a package of materials on gynecologic cancer and is best viewed progressively from module 1 through 6. You need to view all of the modules to receive continuing education (CE) credits.

Inside Knowledge Campaign

To raise understanding and awareness of gynecologic cancer risk factors, symptoms, prevention strategies, and screening recommendations, CDC developed the Inside Knowledge: Get the Facts about Gynecologic Cancer (Inside Knowledge) campaign. This campaign provides the general public and health care professionals with information on each of the five main gynecologic cancers through the use of survivor stories, public service announcements, fact sheets and other health education materials, and tools to help women monitor their own symptoms.

Formative campaign research identified knowledge gaps among health care providers related to gynecologic cancers, indicating a need for additional education in this area. Therefore, this curriculum was developed for and targeted to primary health care providers to provide information and recommendations for symptom identification, screening and referral practices, and related care.
