This Calendar announces current and upcoming Meaningful Use related events. If you would like to submit an event for consideration, please send a request to the CDC Meaningful Use e-mail at meaningfuluse@cdc.gov. The event should be Meaningful Use related and attendance should be open to all (regional, national).

  1. Joint Public Health Forum & CDC Nationwide Monthly Webinar Series-
    (Scheduled for 3rd Thursday of the month, from 3pm to 4pm E.T.) The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Office of the National coordinator for Health IT (ONC), collaborate to lead these monthly webinars designed to increase collaboration between Public Health Agencies, Public Health associations, Regional Extension Centers and State Health Information Exchanges who are all working towards enabling eligible healthcare professionals and hospitals achieve meaningful use objectives related to public health. These webinars are very popular and attended by individuals from across the nation. During 2014-2015, the average attendance on these webinars has been 150+.
  2. Public Health (PH)–Electronic Health Records (EHR) Vendors Collaboration Initiative Monthly Webinar Series -
    (Scheduled for 3rd Tuesday of the month, from 1pm to 2pm E.T.) The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC), in collaboration with Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) launched a Public Health (PH) - Electronic Health Records (EHR) Vendors Collaboration Initiative. The initial focus of this initiative is on meeting Stage 1 and 2 Meaningful Use public health objectives. Public Health Practitioners and EHR Vendors from across the nation are participating in this initiative. The proposed goals for this initiative include: 1) To establish an open forum for EHR vendors to ask questions of public health and vice-versa. 2) To promote collaboration between EHR vendors and public health. 3) To identify potential barriers to implementation of Meaningful Use PH reporting objectives, on the PH and the Vendor side.4) To collaboratively resolve the identified barriers to implementation of Meaningful Use PH reporting objectives.
  3. Health IT (HIT) Federal Advisory Committee (FACA)Meetings
    The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) provided for the creation of an Health IT (HIT) Policy Committee and an Health IT (HIT) Standards Committee under the auspices of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA). Several workgroups have been formed as subcommittees to the parent FACA The HIT Policy Committee makes recommendations to the National Coordinator for Health IT on a policy framework for the development and adoption of a nationwide health information infrastructure, including standards for the exchange of patient medical information.The HIT Standards Committee makes recommendations to the National Coordinator for Health IT on standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria for the electronic exchange and use of health information.

  4. Several workgroups have been formed as subcommittees to the HIT Policy Committee and HIT Standards Committee. These workgroups meet periodically to discuss their topics, present their findings, and make recommendations to their respective parent FACA committee.
