Liberia
Objective: Assist four local nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in developing a monitoring and evaluation plan to strengthen their reproductive health programs View the 2008 Liberia Logic Model Abstract: A reproductive health survey was conducted in Lofa County, Liberia. The survey goal was to document the need for reproductive health services in this post-conflict setting to inform public health action. This population has been without essential public health services since the conflict ended. Proposals were selected from four local NGOs. Small grants will be given to support their programs. At the end of this workshop, each NGO developed a monitoring and evaluation plan. Following is a list of the NGOs and their program goals. The International Emergency Refugee Health Branch of the CDC worked with partners and the Ministry of Health to implement a capacity-building exercise as part of a larger model. The model uses research to drive action in meeting the identified reproductive health service needs of populations in crises. The phases of the exercise are: 1) conducting a reproductive health survey, 2) identifying local health agencies, 3) providing skill building opportunities, 4) providing ongoing support; and, 5) sharing program findings.
