Abstract: Through its healthy homes campaign, the Greater Grand Rapids Children’s Environmental Health Initiative (CEHI) is working to improve children’s environmental health in the home. The program targets five core indicators of children’s environmental health: childhood lead poisoning, carbon monoxide, asthma, radon, and mercury. Using both qualitative and quantitative data measures, combined with monitoring and evaluation tools, the team created a multiyear logic model for monitoring the healthy homes campaign’s progress toward its goal of reducing disparities in children’s environmental health. Stakeholders, which included community nurses, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, CDC, and a CEHI core group, were engaged in the development of the logic model and evaluation plan.

The process evaluation plan is intended to answer questions about how the program operates and document the procedures and activities undertaken in service delivery. The data can be used to

1. Demonstrate the value of the healthy homes campaign to stakeholders and the public,
2. Provide information for policy/project decision-making,
3. Assess the allocation of resources to support activities,
4. Assess whether program goals are being met, and
5. Set program priorities.
