NCHS Publications
Series 1 Reports
Information about the history and methodology of the NHIS as well as copies of pieces of older questionnaires are found in two of the reports, No. 11 and No. 18. Some of the supplement questionnaires are not shown in any other NHIS report.
Series 10 Reports
Injury and poisoning estimates from the NHIS are published in selected NCHS Series 10 reports, including “Summary Health Statistics for the U.S. Population” (published annually).
Series B and C reports
These reports preceded the Series 10 reports and are the earliest reports issued on the NHIS data. All of these reports contain estimates based on data from the period before 1963 for which there are no microdata files. Some of these reports focused exclusively on injuries and others included injuries as one type of many acute conditions.
National Health Statistics Reports
This report series, introduced by NCHS in June, 2008, replaced the Advanced Data Reports series. Future reports may include injury- and poisoning-related topics.
Advance Data Reports
Injury and poisoning statistics have been published in selected reports. Click on the link above and review report titles to identify reports of interest. This report series was discontinued in mid-2008 and was replaced with the National Health Statistics Reports series.
Injury FastStats
Found on the NCHS web page titled “FastStats A to Z.” Scroll down the page and click on “Injury” to view injury estimates based on NHIS data for the noninstitutionalized U.S. population.
