Sector Description
The Wholesale and Retail Trade Sector covers approximately 20 million workers in North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) industries 42 and 44-45. With over 1.6 million establishments, the Wholesale and Retail Trade sector includes a wide variety work places, ranging from gas stations to grocery stores to wholesale warehouses. These workers, including many young workers, face risks that include workplace violence, overexertion, machinery, chemicals, shift work, and psycho-social stressors.

We seek to facilitate the most important research, understand the most effective intervention strategies, and learn how to implement those strategies to achieve sustained improvements in workplace practice.
