Before the conference, join us to visit local STD-related programs! The National Coalition of STD Directors (NCSD) has arranged tours of several outstanding programs in Minneapolis.

Red Door Clinic

Red Door Services (formerly known as the Red Door Clinic) is part of the new Hennepin County Public Health Clinic. The clinic is the largest HIV/STD testing site in Minnesota. In 2010, the clinic diagnosed 29% of Minnesota’s early syphilis cases and 19% of HIV cases. The clinic provides STD and HIV testing, treatment and health education, Ryan White HIV medical care for the uninsured, and pregnancy prevention and targeted HIV/STD programming. The Red Door staff primarily consists of certified Nurse Practitioners under the direction of an infectious disease M.D.

Annex Teen Clinic

The Annex Teen Clinic is a sexual health clinic serving young people of Northwest Hennepin County and North Minneapolis. The Annex provides low cost, sexuality-related health care, education, counseling and outreach to adolescents. The Annex provides a full range of low cost family planning services for teens including clinical services, referrals, follow-up and education. All programs are designed to reinforce preventive behaviors that will decrease the incidence of unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.

African Health Action

African Health Action (AHA) is a community-based organization that provides culturally, gender and age appropriate preventive health services to Africans immigrants and refugees living in Minnesota. AHA’s purpose is to promote health equity and social connectedness to improve health outcomes among African immigrants and refugees in Minnesota. AHA programs include prevention education and counseling, screening and referral, and promoting positive behavior change and social connectedness.

West Side Community Health Services

West Side Community Health Services (WSCHS) is a community health center that provides comprehensive health care and social services with bilingual/bicultural staff on a sliding fee scale. Services include primary, specialty, preventive, urgent care, complementary, pharmacy, dental, OB/GYN, mental health, social and wrap-around services such as child care, transportation and assistance with health plan enrollment. WSCHS serves the diverse St. Paul metro area community -- particularly the Latino and Hmong populations, St. Paul public housing residents, people in the homeless population, and adolescents in a service area that includes a significant portion of the City of St. Paul and Ramsey County.
