Combustible Tobacco Consumption, 2000–2011
- Total consumption of all combustible tobacco decreased from 450.7 billion cigarette equivalents to 326.8 billion cigarette equivalents (-27.5%).
- Cigarette consumption decreased from 435.6 billion to 292.8 billion (-32.8%).
- Consumption of non-cigarette combustible tobacco increased from 15.2 billion cigarette equivalents to 33.8 billion cigarette equivalents (+123%).
Changes in Consumption of Non-Cigarette Combustible Tobacco Products, 2000–2011
- Roll-your-own tobacco decreased from 5.99 billion cigarette equivalents to 2.62 billion cigarette equivalents (-56.3%).
- Pipe tobacco increased from 3 billion cigarette equivalents to 17.5 cigarette equivalents (+482%).
- Loose tobacco increased from 9 billion cigarette equivalents to 20 billion cigarette equivalents (+123%).
- Small cigars decreased from 2.28 billion to 0.80 billion (-65%).
- Large cigars increased from 3.88 billion to 12.93 billion (+233%).
