This is a special supplement of the Journal of Adolescent Health that presents four longitudinal studies on intergenerational patterns of violence. Studies investigated the role of safe, stable, nurturing relationships (SSNRs) and social contexts in the lives of children and their caregivers.

This document proposes strategies that communities can consider to promote the types of relationships and environments that help children grow up to be healthy and productive citizens. These citizens, in turn, will help build stronger and safer families and communities for their children.
