Work@Health® Wellness Champion

What is a Work@Health^® Wellness Champion?

The Work@Health^® program provides expert training, technical assistance, and support to employers nationwide dedicated to building effective worksite health programs.

Work@Health^® Wellness Champions are organizations and/or employers that have demonstrated a commitment to promoting the Work@Health^® program within their respective networks.

Recognized W@H Wellness Champions will use their networks and contacts to promote the W@H program to potential employers and professionals with an interest in becoming Work@Health^® certified trainers.

These organizations include the following:

Health departments.
Business coalitions.
Professional associations.
Public health‐based non‐profits.
Trade associations.

The following local, state, and national organizations are committed to promoting the Work@Health^® program throughout their respective communities.

Georgia Department of Public Health
The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is the lead agency in preventing disease, injury, and disability; promoting health and well-being; and preparing for and responding to disasters from a health perspective in the state of Georgia.

U. S. Small Business Administration
The US Small Business Administration (SBA) was created in 1953 as an independent agency of the federal government to aid, counsel, assist, and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise, and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of the United States.

Indiana State Department of Health
The mission of the Indiana State Department of Health is to promote and provide essential public health services and to create a safer, healthier Indiana.

Kentucky Department for Public Health
The mission of the Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH) is to improve the health and safety of people in Kentucky through prevention, promotion and protection. KDPH is responsible for developing and operating state public health programs and activities for the citizens of Kentucky.

Snohomish Health District
The Snohomish Health District was created in 1959 as an independent special purpose district responsible for public health in Snohomish County, Washington.

Reno County Health Department
Its mission is to improve the health of Reno County, Kansas residents by preventing disease, promoting wellness, and protecting the public’s health and environment.

Florida Department of Health in Leon County
The goal of the health-promotion program is to improve community health in Leon County through nutrition, physical activity, and smoking cessation policies that affect systems and environmental change strategies. Program staff promote and develop community partnerships to create new norms and opportunities in schools, worksites, and the general community so that healthy eating, active living, and smoke-free lifestyles are the easy and natural choices.

NASA Johnson Space Center
For more than 50 years, NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston has led the United States and the world on a continuing adventure of human exploration, discovery and achievement.

Dean Health Plan
Dean is a for-profit, integrated healthcare organization based in Madison, Wisconsin. Dean consists of a network of more than 60 clinics in south-central Wisconsin.

Health Coach 611
Health Coach 611 is an Integrative Nutrition Health Coaching company that coaches clients in the US and Canada.

Honda Manufacturing of Alabama
Honda is a multinational corporation primarily known as a manufacturer of automobiles, motorcycles, and power equipment. The manufacturing facility in Lincoln, Alabama, has incorporated innovative manufacturing technologies shared by Honda facilities around the globe.

• Build the worksite wellness expertise and capacity of your organization and members.
• Access to the most up‐to‐date worksite wellness resource materials, which can be shared with the Wellness Champion’s networks.
• Priority placement for future Work@Health^® training opportunities and classes.

What do Work@Health^® Wellness Champions Do?

• Promote the Work@Health^® program to its network members and potential Work@Health^® participants.
• Appoint a Work@Health^® point of contact responsible for coordinating Work@Health^® promotion.
• Assist the Work@Health^® program team with follow up activities.
• Consider becoming a participant in the Work@Health^® Train‐the‐Trainer Program to learn how to be a resource for its membership.
