Antimalarial medications

Recommended therapy for malaria depends on species, regional resistance patterns, and disease severity. Many treatment regimens include a combination of agents Medications listed in most recent CDC guidelines[1] include:
- Atovaquone-proguanil (Malarone)
- Artemether-lumefantrine
- Artesunate
- Quinine, Quinidine
- Chloroquine, Hydroxychloroquine
- Primaquine
- Artesunate (not currently licensed in the US)
- Clindamycin, doxycycline, tetracycline (used in combination with quinine/quinidine)
Other antimalarials:
- Pyrimethamine
- Dapsone
- Atovaquone
- Amodiaquine
- Dihydroartemisinin
- Piperaquine
