- 80-100% oral bioavailability as opposed to furosemide[1]
Administration
- Type: Loop diuretic
- Dosage Forms:
- Routes of Administration: IV, PO
- Common Trade Names: Demadex
Adult Dosing
40mg furosemide = 20mg torsemide = 1mg bumetanide = 50mg Ethacrynic acid
- 5-200 mg PO or IV daily. Titrate to effect by doubling dose
Pediatric Dosing
Safety/efficacy not established
Special Populations
- Pregnancy Rating: B
- Lactation risk: Infant risk cannot be ruled out
Renal dosing: no adjustment Hepatic dosing: no adjustment

- Allergy to class/drug
- Anuria

Mechanism of Action
- Loop diuretic: interferes with Na/K/Cl cotransport system, inhibiting reabsorption of Na/Cl in the ascending limb of the loop of Henle
