Health Scientist National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities

Alina L. Flores, MPH, CHES is a Health Scientist with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities. Before coming to the CDC in July of 2001, Ms. Flores served as the Education Director at the Spina Bifida Association of Georgia. During her time at the CDC, Ms. Flores has assisted in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a national Spanish-language folic acid campaign, as well as assisted with other domestic and international neural tube defects prevention programs and development of educational materials and school curriculums. She currently oversees the implementation of birth defects surveillance activities and the provision of technical assistance for capacity building efforts. She has presented folic acid promotion strategies to international, national, state, and community-based agencies. Ms. Flores is currently working toward obtaining her DrPH degree in Public Health Leadership.
