Simple Singh, MD, MPH is an epidemiologist with the Cancer Surveillance Branch (CSB) in the Division of Cancer Prevention and Control at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Dr. Singh leads surveillance data dissemination and promotion activities at CSB and provides consultation and advice to other agencies outside and across CDC to data dissemination through other resources. She diligently leads release of the official federal cancer statistics-the United States Cancer Statistics Web-based Report (USCS), the premier cancer data source. To improve the reach, user experience, and applicability of cancer surveillance data to a wider audience, Dr. Singh led Division’s new data visualization effort to include more effective graphics for these data. In addition, she provides epidemiologic expertise and technical assistance related to National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR) and cancer surveillance research to leadership.

She earned her medical degree from Lviv State Medical University, in Ukraine, and Masters in Public Health from Tulane University School of Public Health, in New Orleans. Before coming to CDC in 2008, Dr. Singh worked for Georgia Division of Public Health in Georgia Comprehensive Cancer Registry Unit, and gained expertise in cancer registration, surveillance and cancer programs.

In addition to her leadership in cancer surveillance dissemination, Dr. Singh led and collaborated on several epidemiologic and surveillance studies that help promote cancer prevention and healthy living. The main focus of her research has been heath disparities in cancer incidence and mortality, and cancer survival.
