Susanna Visser, MS, is the Lead Epidemiologist with the Child Development Studies Team in the Division of Human Development and Disability. Ms. Visser’s areas of expertise include the epidemiologic study of neurobehavioral and mental health conditions of children, including ADHD, Tourette Syndrome, and autism. She is also an expert in analyzing longitudinal survey data, which is data covering developmental trends across the life span, and population-based survey data.

She came to CDC in 2001 after graduating from the University of Illinois at Chicago’s School of Public Health and participating in the execution of neonatal nursing research. Ms. Visser currently serves as the committee epidemiologist for the American Academy of Pediatrics ADHD diagnostic and treatment guidelines committee and participates in technical expert panels for two national surveys sponsored by the Maternal Child Health Bureau. Ms. Visser has been a lead author on research related to generating population-based estimates of ADHD, rates of medication treatment among youth with ADHD, and factors associated with ADHD medication treatment. Ms. Visser currently directs a longitudinal, multiple site research contract investigating the outcomes of youth with ADHD.
