One Health Office
Focus: To connect human, animal, and environmental health.
Some key activities:
- Serving as the CDC focal point for animal-human-ecosystem interface issues of public health importance, both in the United States and around the globe.
- Supporting many of CDC’s core functions that can address One Health (such as surveillance, outbreak response, prevention and control activities, laboratory capacity, and research).
- Providing guidance on One Health activities and strategic plans to improve health outcomes for both people and animals.
- Facilitating collaborations and information sharing across disciplines and sectors.
- Fostering global and domestic partnerships and liaising with various public health, animal health (agriculture and wildlife), and environmental health organizations.
- Leading the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) Collaborating Centre for Emerging and Reemerging Zoonotic Diseases.
- Coordinating prevention and education for zoonoses that can spread between people and animals.
