Continuing Education for Preventive Medicine Grand Rounds

To obtain Continuing Education (CE) for the courses in the Preventive Medicine Grand Rounds series, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Go to http://www.cdc.gov/TCEOnline/.
  2. Select Participant Login.
    1. New Users: If you are new to TCEO, select New Participant to create a user ID and password. 
    2. Returning Users: If you have registered previously but have forgotten your password, click on the Forgot your Password link.
  3. Once logged on to the TCEO site, the Participant Services page will display.  Select the Search and Register link. 
  4. Select the Keyword Search method, enter the course name key words in the box and select View. You can also search for “Preventive Medicine.”
  5. Click on the course name to display the course information page.  Scroll down to Register Here.  Select the type of CE that you would like to receive and then select Submit.
  6. The next page requests demographic information. 
    1. New participants are required to answer the demographic questions. 
    2. Returning participants please verify this information and select Submit.
  7. A message will display thanking you for registering for the course.  If you have already completed the course, you may select the option to take the evaluation.
  8. If you have not completed the course, you will be directed back to Participant Services.  Under Evaluations and Tests, you may access the course detail page, the course link, or the evaluation and/or post-test after completing the course.
  9. Complete the evaluation, post-test, and Submit
  10. A record of your course completion and your CE certificate will be posted in the Transcript and Certificate section, located on the Participant Services page.

Continuing Education (CE)

Intended Audience: Physicians, Registered Nurses, Veterinarians, Epidemiologists, and other public health practitioners.

Prerequisites: Fundamental understanding of applied epidemiology; and some experience of public health practice (outbreak investigations, public health interventions)

Series Objectives:

  1. Describe the three aspects of the context of any major health issue including the at-risk populations and the stakeholders who could influence the intervention outcomes.
  2. Provide examples of coalition development and maintenance with key stakeholders to address major health issues
  3. Identify the three key success factors of population health improvement projects.

Continuing Education Offered:

CME:  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

NE: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is accredited as a provider of Continuing Nursing Education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
This activity provides 1.5 contact hours.

CEU: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is authorized by (International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) to offer 0.2 CEU’s for this program.

CECH: Sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a designated provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program is designated for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) to receive up to 1.5 total Category I continuing education contact hours. Maximum advanced level continuing education contact hours available are zero. CDC provider number 98614.

AAVSB/RACE: This program has been submitted (but not yet approved) for 1.5 hours of continuing education credit in jurisdictions that recognize AAVSB RACE approval; however, participants should be aware that some boards have limitations on the number of hours accepted in certain categories and/or restrictions on certain methods of delivery of continuing education. For Certified Public Health Professionals (CPH)

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is a pre-approved provider of Certified in Public Health (CPH) recertification credits and is authorized to offer 2.0 CPH recertification credits for this program.

CDC is an approved provider of CPH Recertification Credits by the National Board of Public Health Examiners. Effective October 1, 2013, the National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE) accepts continuing education units (CEU) for CPH recertification credits from CDC. Please select CEU as your choice for continuing education when registering for a course on TCEOnline. Learners seeking CPH should use the guidelines provided by the NBPHE for calculating recertification credits. For assistance, please contact NBPHE.

FEES: There are no fees for CE provided by CDC.
