Developing National Public Health Institutes
Speaker
Rachel Idowu, MD, MPH
U.S. CDC Technical Advisor to the African CDC
CDC’s Division of Global Health Protection (DGHP) is collaborating with the International Association of National Public Health Institutes and other partners around the world to strengthen an interconnected base of national public health institutes. Their work involves organizing and coordinating expertise within public health systems to address public health challenges. The goal is to create a global network of science-focused public health agencies that use data to drive decision-making and can be proactive to contain global health threats.
Dr. Rachel Idowu, an alumnus of CDC’s Population Health Training-In-Place Program, will discuss her role in supporting the development of national public health institutes in Africa at the national and continental levels, specifically, the conception and operationalization of the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
