Roberta Erlwein
Acting Branch Chief, Health Department and Systems Development
Bobbie Erlwein is the acting branch chief for the Health Department and Systems Development Branch, Division of Public Health Performance Improvement, Office for State, Tribal, Local and Territorial Support.
Erlwein has more than 25 years of experience in public health at the local and federal levels. She began her career with the Allegheny County Health Department in Pennsylvania as a sanitarian. She then became the operations manager for the Housing and Community Environment Division, where she oversaw multiple programs, revised regulations, and developed program guidance.
Erlwein began her federal service with the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ASTDR), where she served first as a regional representative, working directly with the Environmental Protection Agency, state and local officials, CDC experts, and community members to address health concerns around hazardous waste sites. She later served as a technical project officer and team lead, where Erlwein oversaw the operation of ATSDR’s cooperative agreement with approximately 30 grantees.
Subsequent to working with ATSDR, Erlwein accepted the position of senior management official and began working directly with the executive team in Ohio to foster and strengthen shared leadership and portfolio management activities for CDC.- Page last reviewed: November 9, 2015
