- New York State has regulations to help protect swimmers and aquatics staff from injuries associated with pool chemicals, and educational materials [PDF 116KB] to help pool owners store and handle pool chemicals safely.
- New York also runs a unique surveillance program to track illnesses and injuries from pool chemicals. Factors contributing to illness and injuries include inadequate product labeling, improper mixing or storage, and inadequate pool operator training or anti-siphon safeguards.
- California has information and resources to prevent drowning, which is a significant cause of injury-related deaths among children under the age of five.

- The Michigan Department of Community Health expanded EnhanceFitness—a low-cost, evidence-based group exercise program—to increase accessible physical activity options for those with disabilities, reaching more than 4,000 participants of all abilities in 2013.
- The South Carolina Interagency Office of Disability and Health promotes healthier lifestyles for people with intellectual disabilities through the Steps to Your Health program, reaching 5,200 participants in 40 of 46 counties. Participants had an average weight loss of at least 5 pounds, and 70% were able to increase or maintain their physical activity level.

- Three years after Connecticut began requiring flu vaccination for children in licensed child care, flu-related hospitalizations of preschool-aged children decreased 12%.
- The Public Health Foundation is testing a Public Health Antibiotic Stewardship Driver Diagram in Maine, Connecticut, and Independence, Missouri, to help public and clinical health care work together to reduce antibiotic-resistant infections. California, Georgia, Indiana [PDF 391KB], and Minnesota, among other states, also have antibiotic stewardship resources.
