Gwen Bergen, PhD, MPH, MS

Behavioral Scientist

Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Gwen Bergen, PhD, MPH, MS, is a behavioral scientist on the Motor Vehicle Team in the Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention in CDC's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control. The main focus of Dr. Bergen's work is preventing alcohol-impaired driving.

Prior to joining the Motor Vehicle Team, Dr. Bergen completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the National Center for Health Statistics, where she produced a chart book on injury data. She has a PhD in health policy and management with a focus on behavioral and social sciences from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, an MPH in behavioral sciences from the Emory Rollins School of Public Health, and an MS in information and computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Mark Kinde, MPH

Director

Injury and Violence Prevention Unit, Minnesota Department of Health

Mark Kinde, MPH, is director of the Injury and Violence Prevention Unit at the Minnesota Department of Health. Since 1984, Kinde has served the North Dakota and Minnesota departments of health in injury and violence epidemiology, surveillance, program development, implementation, and evaluation. In both states, he helped to develop statewide traumatic brain and spinal cord injury registries, as well as surveillance systems for both violence and unintentional injury.

Kinde is eager to improve data quality on the state and national levels, to evaluate prevention programs and policies, to support injury and violence prevention and control on the state and local levels, and to translate data into programs and policies that reduce risk of injury and violence in communities across our state and nation.

Jim Roeber, MSPH

Alcohol Epidemiologist

Substance Abuse Epidemiology Section, Epidemiology and Response Division, New Mexico Department of Health

Jim Roeber, MSPH, is a CDC-funded alcohol epidemiologist with the New Mexico Department of Health. Roeber's current interests include alcohol-related public health surveillance, policy and prevention support, and program evaluation. He currently chairs the Alcohol Subcommittee of the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists and is a member of the New Mexico State Epidemiological Outcomes Workgroup.

Prior to joining the New Mexico Department of Health, Roeber worked for the Kaiser Permanente Health Plan's California division and for the Boston Department of Health and Hospitals in Massachusetts.

He received his MSPH from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
