How Can I Help?
CDC receives calls and e-mails from individuals asking how they can help make a difference in the fight against rabies.
If you work for a company that does business in an area where canine rabies is a concern, you could include rabies control in your business strategy, or consider supporting rabies prevention for a special event or holiday fund raising.
Rabies Education and Canine Vaccination Saves Lives
Rabies is entirely preventable and the tools to do so are readily available. A combined approach, consisting of education and awareness combined with vaccination of domestic animals, has been repeatedly documented to eliminate dog rabies and human exposures. Reducing human rabies deaths through effective dog rabies control is less costly than through increasing the use of costly human vaccine.
If you live in a rabies-endemic country, help make rabies control and prevention a priority, and make sure you protect yourself, your family, and your community.
In the past few years, several organizations have started to address the need for rabies awareness and to identify funds for rabies control.

Global Awareness
CDC is a collaborating partner in World Rabies Day. The mission of World Rabies Day is to raise awareness about the impact of human and animal rabies, how easy it is to prevent it, and how to eliminate the main global sources. Even though the major impact of rabies occurs in regions of the world where many needs are present, rabies should no longer be neglected. The tools and technology for human rabies prevention and dog rabies elimination are available. Get involved in World Rabies Day by participating in an event or planning one yourself.
