Reported cases of rabies in bats, by county, 2015
The figure shows a map of the United States with highlighted counties where rabid bats were tested during 2015. Histogram represents number of counties in each category (light grey for 1-2 tested animals; medium grey for 3-34 tested animals; and dark grey for 35 to 462 tested animals) for total number of bats submitted for rabies testing. Point locations (red dots) for rabid bats were randomly selected within each reporting jurisdiction. The cases are broadly distributed throughout the United States. The total number of reported cases involving bats in 2015 was 1,704, representing 30.9 percent of all wildlife rabies cases in the United States.
