Presidential Advisory Council on Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria (PACCARB)
The Presidential Advisory Council on Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria—which includes Dr. Beth Bell, Director of the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases at CDC, as a non-voting member—is comprised of human and animal health experts who will provide advice, information, and recommendations to the Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary on federal programs and policies related to combating antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
Tackling antibiotic resistance requires a coordinated approach across industries and nations. The Advisory Council works together to ensure the continued effectiveness of antibiotics and slow the threat of resistant germs for the future by complementing progress made in other federal efforts, specifically the National Action Plan for Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria [63 pages]
CDC appreciates the members of the Advisory Council for their willingness to serve in the fight against one of the biggest public health problems facing our world today.
