Global, regional, and national disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) for 306 diseases and injuries and healthy life expectancy (HALE) for 188 countries, 1990–2013: quantifying the epidemiological transition .
All Centers conduct surveillance as part of the GDD program. Decisions for what gets tracked is based on country priorities, established programs in place, and available resources. Centers work with host countries to employ a variety of surveillance methods, including Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response .
As of 2014, the following diseases and conditions were tracked through population-based surveillance at Centers.
- Hospital-acquired infections
- Bacterial blood stream infections
- Diarrheal disease
- Acute febrile illness
- Acute Neurological Disease
- Acute Jaundice Syndrome
- Influenza-like illnesses
- Severe acute respiratory infections
- Tuberculosis
- Zoonotic diseases - other
